Changing the Face of Politics
One of the sad truths about politics in the United States is that the individuals and communities who have the most to gain from changing the way our political process works are also the most marginalized under our current system:.
Young people, who will be affected more by the political decisions that are being made today than any other group, are deemed “unreliable” voters and often ignored by status quo politicians.
African Americans and other communities of color, who have been subject to efforts to deny their voting rights or dilute their electoral power since the end of the Civil War and the passage of the Fourteenth Amendment, all too often face barriers to participation that are simply unacceptable.
Low-income people, who lacked the resources to pay for lobbyists or make large campaign contributions, routinely see their interests overlooked in Washington. One Voice is a Political Action Committee that is committed not only to electing progressive candidates to Congress, but to changing the way that our political system works in the process by engaging communities and individuals who have traditionally been excluded from the political process, with a special emphasis placed on the groups listed above.
By working in communities of color and engaging with young people, we are actively changing the face of politics by empowering communities that have historically been marginalized from the political process, giving voice to tens of millions of Americans who are rarely heard in Washington.
In this way, we seek to unite progressive Americans into One Voice that will effectively fight for the changes our country so desperately needs.
